Construction at GCS Ballpark: Bring on the Field Turf

Hello All!  Things have been a little hectic (and noisy) at GCS Ballpark already this week.  That's because construction is underway to replace the playing surface at the ballpark.  The project started Monday (all pictures courtesy of Paul Baillargeon/ActionImaging.com) and the progess has been drastic in just two days.  This is a very exciting time for the Gateway Grizzlies as the team transitions from grass to field turf.  It's a move that has understandably received a lot of flack from fans.  I, for one, am very excited about the switch.  Sure, like any baseball fan, I like the real grass, but financially this is going to be a great move for the organization.

It's a BIG change.  The Grizzlies will join a handful of team's in the Frontier League already using field turf and I'm excited to see how it looks when the project is completed.  According to people close to the project, it should be finished around Thanksgiving time.  If you want to see the construction first hand, stop by GCS Ballpark and check it out!
