Grizzlies Gear Up For Final Series in 2011

Hello All!  Crazy to think the season is coming to an end this weekend at GCS Ballpark!  The Grizzlies are getting set to begin a three-game series tonight with rival, River City.  The Grizzlies are playing some of their best baseball this season, winners of four in a row, and fresh off a sweep of Florence.  The Grizzlies have won four in a row for the first time since June 2-5 and the recept sweep was their first since June 3-5 @ home vs. Rockford.  Tonight, Gateway looks to make it five in a row, which is something they haven't done all season!  Below are some notes heading into action tonight against the Rascals:

*Joe Agreste is chasing down some Gateway records.  Joe is currently six at-bats away from tying Charlie Lisk for most at-bats in a single-season (373 AB; 2010).  Agreste has 108 hits, five away from Lisk's single-season record (113, 2010).  Finally, if Joe plays all three games this weekend, he will have played in 94 games during the season, tying Greg Isaacson for first all-time (94).
*Charlie Lisk is six RBI away from tying Pete Pirman (Kalamazoo: 100 RBI in 2006) for most in a single-season in Frontier League history.
*Gateway looks for their first winning streak above four games in the 2011 season.

Pitching matchups this weekend:

Tonight:  GWY RHP Brad Stone vs. RCY RHP Josh Lowey (2011 Frontier League Pitcher of the Year)
Saturday: GWY RHP Jordan Cudney (first professional start) vs. RCY RHP Zach Sterner
Sunday:  GWY RHP Mark Brackman (1.93 ERA; lowest in the FL) vs. RCY RHP Preston Vancil

Enjoy the weekend everyone!
